Aleksa Gulbe

Aleksa Gulbe is an extremely skilled stretch 4.  As an outside/inside 6’3 Power Forward, she is a matchup nightmare. She is a 40%+ three point shooter in the Euroleague and can handle the ball better than most 3’s.  She has great heands, which helps her tremendously when grabbing rebounds.  She is strong enough to be staunch against any 4 in the world, while she can guard positions 3-5.

Finished her IU career ranked 28^th in all-time scoring with 1,071 career points and 618 career rebounds … finished ninth all-time in career blocks (112) … played in 123 games through her four-year career, making 89 career starts … is one of the program’s three all-time winningest players with 90 wins in four seasons along with Ali Patberg and Grace Berger … made three NCAA Tournament appearances including an Elite Eight appearance (2021) … averaged 8.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in her career … graduated from IU with a degree in public financial management.

SENIOR YEAR (2021-22)
Appeared in all 33 games, making 32 starts … averaged 11.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game … scored in double figures 18 times and tied a team-high three double-doubles … shot 42.2 percent from the floor, 34.3 percent at the 3-point line and one of the team’s best 80.4 percent at the free throw line … also added 1.0 blocks per game … recorded her first double-double of the season with 22 points and set a career-high 12 rebounds in a win over Norfolk State … had eight points, five rebounds and three steals against Stanford and added 11 points and eight boards in the win over Miami (FL) at the Baha Mar Hoops Invitational … shot 66.7 percent for 21 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two assists in the win over Fairfield … helped Indiana defeat No. 6/8 Maryland with 17 points and 10 rebounds … set a career-high four steals to go along with 17 points, five rebounds, two blocks and a career-high four steals in a win over Nebraska … her 7-for-11 effort including three 3-pointers and nine rebounds helped Indiana keep the Barn Burner trophy for the sixth-consecutive season with a win at Purdue …  had a career night against Minnesota where she scored 28 points on 11-for-15 shooting and a career-high four triples made … it set off a six-straight games of double figure scoring including 18 points at Illinois and 13 points and three steals against Michigan State … posted her second double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 boards in a home win over Northwestern …  notched back-to-back 20-point scoring games with 22 points including an 11-for-12 effort at the line against Iowa … grabbed 11 rebounds and added seven points and three blocks in IU’s quarterfinal win over Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament … scored 11 points and six rebounds in the Big Ten Championship game … in the NCAA First Round against Charlotte, recorded 15 points and seven rebounds.

JUNIOR YEAR (2020-21)
Started in all 27 games … averaged 9.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while shooting 44.8 percent from the floor … went 78.8 percent at the charity stripe … scored in double figures 10 times … led the team in rebounding in four games … had two double-doubles … had 20 blocks this season and now has 80 for her career, which ranks 10^th all-time in school history … set a season-high 18 points along with 12 rebounds against Nebraska where she went 7-for-10 from the floor and hit a season-high three 3-pointers … went 9-for-10 from the free throw line at Minnesota … picked up a season-high four steals against Illinois … added 10 points, six rebounds and tied a season-high four steals at Purdue … chipped in 14 points against Michigan State to help IU start a nine-game win streak … shot 6-for-9 against Penn State for 15 points … helped IU beat No. 11 Michigan with 13 points, including a 3-for-5 clip from 3-point range, and seven rebounds … played in all 40 minutes in the win at No. 11 Ohio State where she added 10 points and a season-high three blocks … helped IU keep the Barn Burner Trophy in a win over Purdue in the season finale as she scored 14 points … had double figure rebounds in three NCAA Tournament games to help guide IU to an Elite Eight appearance … pulled down 10 boards against Belmont and NC State while setting a new career-high against top Belmont with 15 rebounds … averaged 32.0 minutes per game.

SOPHOMORE YEAR (2019-20) 
Played and started in 31 games … averaged 9.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game … shot 44.3 percent from the floor and scored in double figures 13 times … led with a team-high 37 blocks (1.2 blocks per game) and had 12 games with multiple blocks … shot 73 percent at the free throw line (89-for-122) … grabbed at least three rebounds in 30 games where she had a season-high nine rebounds twice … had back-to-back 12 point games against Nicholls State and Jackson State … added 11 points in both wins to open up the Big Ten schedule against Michigan State and Rutgers … blocked a season-high four shots and added 10 points and eight rebounds in the win over Purdue … set a new career-high 18 points and nine rebounds at Iowa where she hit a season-high two 3-pointers … went 7-for-9 from the field with 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocks … posted 11 points by going 5-for-7 from the floor with 11 points against Nebraska … went 9-for-12 from the free throw line for 14 points against Ohio State … in the Big Ten Tournament, had 15 points including an 8-for-10 clip at the line for 15 points to go along with seven rebounds … averaged 23.5 minutes per game.

FRESHMAN YEAR (2018-19)
Played in 32 games as a freshman … averaged 5.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game … scored in double figures three times shooting 37.7 percent from the floor … connected on 12 3-pointers and holding a 36.4 clip from 3-point range … shot an 85.4 percent clip from the free throw line (41-for-48) … tallied up 23 total blocks … averaged 16.9 minutes per outing … in her second career-game, scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds at Oakland … against Florida, scored 10 points and four rebounds … set a season-high 12 points against Northern Illinois where she went 4-for-6 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the free throw line … set a season-high four blocks at UCLA in the Puerto Rico Classic against Loyola Marymount, put in nine points, six points against Grambling State and six points against South Dakota … set a Big Ten high of nine points against Illinois and Michigan State … grabbed a season-high nine boards at Ohio State … contributed six points, eight rebounds and a block in a win over Michigan where she played a season-high 30 minutes … in the Barn Burner Trophy game against Purdue, chipped in five points and six rebounds.

PREP
Played for TTT Riga and is a European and World Championship participant … led the U19 Latvian League to a championship where she was named Most Valuable Player where she scored 32 points and 12 rebounds in the championship game … averaged 16.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game to lead Latvia to four wins at the 2018 FIBA European Women’s U20 Championships … scored a team-high 25 points in a win over Croatia …  at the 2018 FIBA European Women’s U18 Championships, was named to the All-Star 5 after leading Latvia to a fourth-place finish as she averaged 13.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists  … averaged 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds at the 2017 U18 European Championship … in 2016, she participated in both the U17 World Championships where she averaged 15.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game as well as the U16 European Championships where she scored 12.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game … at the U16 European Championships in 2015, she averaged 12.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest.
